and cross cinematic Ouarzazate before ending in vibrant Marrakech.
This itinerary blends nature, history, desert adventure, and cultural discovery,
offering an unforgettable Moroccan experience from start to finish.

Leaving the historic city of Fes, today’s journey takes you through some of the most diverse landscapes and colors of the Moroccan Kingdom.

Your first stop is Ifrane, often considered the cleanest and most modern city in Morocco. Known as “Little Switzerland” for its alpine-style architecture and green surroundings, Ifrane sits at an altitude of 1,665 meters in the Middle Atlas. Its name, derived from the Amazigh word “Ifran” meaning caves, reflects the region’s heritage.

Ifrane is also home to the prestigious Al Akhawayn University, founded in 1997 by King Hassan II of Morocco and King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, where all courses are taught in English.

Continue toward the Berber town of Midelt, located at the foothills of the High Atlas, where you will stop for lunch. From the vast plateau, you will begin crossing the towering Atlas Mountains, an area still populated by large Amazigh communities.
Along the way, admire the contrasting landscapes, including palm oases near Jbel Ayachi (3,747 m).

Descending toward the pre-Saharan zone, you will pass through Errachidia and continue to Erfoud, a town renowned for its pottery, fossils, and marble workshops. Millions of years ago, this region was part of an ancient ocean a history still visible in its remarkable fossil industry.

From here, the scenery transforms as you approach the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga. Rising suddenly from the horizon, the red-gold dunes create an unforgettable first impression.

Arrive at your desert camp, where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay under the stars in the heart of the Sahara.

After a traditional local breakfast, depart from Merzouga toward the historic town of Rissani, where you will visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, founder of the Alaouite Dynasty in the 17th century.

Once the ancient capital of Tafilalet, Rissani’s strategic position as a crossroads between the north and south made it a major trading hub and caravan center.
Today, it remains an important commercial town known for its vibrant souk particularly lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays and its long history of leather and goatskin trading.

Continue your journey for 127 km to reach the magnificent Todgha Gorges, located just beyond the central High Atlas Mountains. The dramatic scenery, with its towering limestone cliffs and deep canyons, resembles the landscapes of Colorado.

This region is surrounded by impressive peaks, some rising above 4,000 meters, such as Jbel Mgoun (4,068 m) and Jbel Saghro (2,500 m).
The area is home to Berber communities and offers the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing walk among these spectacular natural formations.

After your visit, continue toward the scenic Dades Valley, where you will spend the night amid one of Morocco’s most breathtaking landscapes.

Departing from the Dades Valley, your first visit is to the impressive Amridil Kasbah, one of the best-preserved kasbahs in Morocco and a beautiful example of traditional Berber architecture.

Continue through Boumalne Dades, a town perched at the edge of the valley, where fertile lands and rich agriculture sustain vibrant Amazigh communities.

As you travel across the region, you will pass through the famous Valley of Roses, known for its fields of alfalfa, olive trees, figs, and grapes. This fertile valley is the birthplace of the Damask rose, used by locals to produce soaps, perfumes, and skincare products. The area celebrates its rose harvest every year with a national festival held at the end of April.

Your journey continues to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” “the Silent City,” or “the Gateway to the Desert.”
Located on a vast plateau south of the High Atlas, Ouarzazate is home to many heritage kasbahs, including the historic Taourirt Kasbah, dating back to the 17th century.
The city earned its cinematic nickname thanks to its major film studios, where famous movies such as Lawrence of Arabia (1962), The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), The Mummy (1999), Gladiator (2000), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Kundun (1997), and Babel (2005) were filmed.

Next, visit the legendary fortified village of Aït Ben Haddou, built in the 11th century. Once an important stop on the ancient caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech, this ksar stands proudly along the Ounila River.
Many of its centuries-old kasbahs suffer from erosion due to rain and wind, yet a few Amazigh families still live inside the historic walls.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, Aït Ben Haddou has also served as a film set for productions like Time Bandits (1981), The Jewel of the Nile (1985), Gladiator (2000), Kundun (1997), and Alexander (2004).

After the visit, drive across the High Atlas Mountains through the scenic Tizi n’Tichka pass and continue toward Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon.

At 10:00 AM, your local guide will meet you at your hotel or riad to begin your Marrakech city tour. Start your morning inside the old médina, wandering through its lively souks the true heartbeat of the city where colors, aromas, and craftsmanship blend into an unforgettable atmosphere.

Continue to the peaceful courtyards and fragrant orange-blossom gardens of the Bahia Palace, an architectural masterpiece built in 1866 for a former slave who rose to become a powerful figure within the government.

Next, visit the Marrakech Museum, housed in a former palace and home to an elegant collection of Moroccan art, sculpture, and cultural artifacts.

Your tour then leads you to the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, whose majestic minaret served as a model for world-renowned monuments such as La Giralda in Seville.
From here, walk back through the winding streets of the medina until you reach the legendary Jemaa el-Fna Square, a UNESCO-recognized cultural treasure where musicians, storytellers, herbalists, artisans, and food stalls create a vibrant, ever-changing scene.

The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace. You may choose to visit the tropical Majorelle Gardens, created by French painter Jacques Majorelle, or the evocative ruins of the Badi Palace, once considered one of the most magnificent palaces in the world.

Alternatively, continue wandering through the medina, where every turn reveals new scents, new colors, and new discoveries. Observe skilled artisans at work, practice your bargaining skills in the souks, or relax with a mint tea or a delicious tajine infused with the authentic flavours of Morocco.

In the evening, you can either return to your hotel or enjoy more time soaking in the magical atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna Square.
